HOW TO GET THERE
Lodève’s closest airport is at Montpellier, although Nimes,
Carcassone, Rodez, Toulouse and Perpignan are all within an acceptable distance.
The villa is situated on the hill of Grézac which dominates the town, just
outside the town boundary and overlooking the valley of the river Lergue. It is
an easy days drive from the main channel ports on motorway virtually all the
way. From 2005 the route will include the magnificent Millau viaduct.
Air: By Ryanair from Stanstead to any of the above and also by Flybe from
Southampton to Toulouse. Car hire is available from all the major reputable
companies at the airports mentioned.
Road: The best route is via Clermont Ferrand and the centre of France
(the motorway is free south of Clermont) which will take you via the A75 past
Lodève in the direction of Montpellier & Beziers. If you wish to avoid Paris
then we suggest the Rouen, Evereux and Dreux route to Orleans and then to
Clermont Ferrand. If coming via the Normandy ports, e.g. Cherbourg, then it is
also possible to take the route via Le Mans and Poitiers towards Clermont
Ferrand.
By Rail: It is a reasonably fast route from Paris to Montpellier via the
SNCF express trains. Once at Montpellier it will be necessary to either take a
taxi or hire a car as there is no rail link to Lodève.
